before they submerge under the lava. What will happen is you will need to jump on four smaller platforms around a large center platform. Each of these platforms will spawn a named efreeti which will cause the center platform to submerge under the lava until the named is killed. Once the named is killed you have about 1 sec to jump back onto the center platform which will rise above the lava again, and after 1 sec. the smaller platform will fall into the lava. It really isn’t too hard and once you go through it once you’ll know what to expect every time.

5.5. Crafting
Crafting is a huge part of this game so I don’t want to leave it out. At T5 you can also make some really good money and that’s how most of the people who started the game got rich. As far as profit goes, armorcrafting and jeweler are probably the most profitable at this point in the game, mainly because most of your profit now is going to be on rare crafted items. If your a scout I suggest jeweler so you can make all your app4s and adept3s which will save a ton of money. You can also make imbued rings that sell like hotcakes. Even if you aren’t making as much money now, getting to level 50 is still a good idea for when the level cap is raised with the next expansion pack. I guarantee that everyone will be buying up the new T6 stuff when it’s introduced and this is the best time to make money crafting. The following section will be a very brief guide to get started with crafting and general guidelines while leveling up. I’ll be using jeweler as the example although most of the ideas hold similar for all of the crafts.
To begin crafting you must first join a tradeskill guild in on of the starting towns. If you notice on the map, there are 4 different tradeskill guilds in each starting town. One of them is a general tradeskill guild which is the one you want to start at, the other three will only let you join if you are a scholar, outfitter, or craftsman class depending on the guild. So first go find the tradeskill guild that will let you join then go inside. In here you will see four levels with various crafting machines for each craft type. The vendor sells various basic crafting components as well as all the crafting books you will need from 3 C 9. These crafting books are what give you the new recipes, rare crafting books can also be found from various mob drops. The easiest way to get from level 3 C 10 is through food. There are a ton of different food recipes and food is generally very cheap to find, plus the vendor sells many different components as well. Also remember that the first time you make an item you will get bonus exp. Just try to

can reward you with some pretty good equipment if you pick the right chest. Overall, this zone is very rewarding, very fun, and is great to go through with a good group of friends who know what they are doing.

Vault of Flames
This zone is in the large temple that you need to run through in the middle of Lavastorm. It also requires a access quest which drops from a named at the forge in the temple. Once you finish this medalion quest and get your necklace, you actually need to wear it to see the entrance and get into the zone, so don’t throw it away no matter how horrible it is! This zone literally takes about 5 min. to complete and can reward you with a good fabled dual wield weapon, fabled heavy helm, or various loot drops and rare crafting items which can sell for quite a bit. This is a very worthwhile zone to do, esp. for the amount of time it takes to complete it.

Maiden’s Gulch
Maiden’s Gulch is also in Lavastorm right after you exit the temple area, in the little canyon that is straight ahead of the exit. There are actually three different zones that you can access from Maiden’s Gulch, one of them is a 24 raid zone, the other is the 12 person zone that starts the Fire and Ice quest which I will get to later, and finally the third is a one group zone that requires an access quest. This access quest is extremely easy as well and starts from a key on the ground on the right side of the Maiden Gulch entrance. This instance is similar to Vault of Flames in that it is extremely easy and can reward you with some very good stuff. From here you can get a fabled tower shield, a bunch of different master spells, and again some good loot and rare crafting items. I suggest doing this zone and the vault everynight, it will only take you about 20 min. and you can get some easy money from them.

Bastion of Flames
This zone is about halfway down Sol Eye in the area with giants and efreetis right before the second elevator. Again this zone requires someone to have access, but this time only one person from the group needs it which is a relief. This zone is short as well, ends with a named mob, and drops some good loot. Not much different then the other two instances in LS except that it actually takes some skill to jump on and off platforms

5.3. Mob Drops
As you may have already noticed, the various mobs you kill have a chance of dropping body loot as well as chests. You should hang on to everything that drops as these sell for quite a bit at higher tiers, especially the fabled body drops. Soon Sony will be moving to more money drops and less loot, so you won’t have to carry as much stuff. This makes more sense anyways, I always wonder what those NPC’s are doing with the thousands of maggots and bones they get everyday. Until then though, you should try to save everything that drops for some extra spending money.
In relation to this, you may also notice that if you kill grey con mobs they never drop a chest. On the other hand they can still drop body loot that you can sell for some decent money. Since Feerrott is a Tier 4.5 C 5 zone, it does have quite a few easy solo mobs as well as Tier 5 harvests and collection ?s. Many people will go here to combine all three of these money making ideas and harvest, collect, and kill solo mobs for some extra cash. There is also a repeatable quest that you can get from Ambassador Zozor every hour that gives you 6 gold everytime you complete it. If you do all of these things together you can get some pretty decent money every hour.

5.4. Level 50 Group Zones
Working together produces the greatest rewards, and this is no different in EQ2. There are quite a few level 50 instanced zones that produce some nice master drops and also alot of loot that you can sell for decent money, both to players and NPCs. If you have a dedicated group of individuals who run throught these zones nightly, it can be both fun and very rewarding.

Return to Nektropos Castle
Nek Castle is one of the most fun and rewarding zones at level 30, and it is no different at level 50 either. This zone can only be entered at level 49+ and requires you to complete an access quest, but it offers some great rewards and is a very fun challenge as well. As I mentioned in the equipment section, you can also get medium armor from the sisters in here which is very good for scouts. Every named and boss in this zone also has a decent chance to drop a master chest, or rare keys which can open various chests around the castle. There are even master chest keys you can get which

make almost 2g from every harvesting quest you complete. I usually grab one of these before I leave town as it’s alot better than selling the materials for 3sp each.

5.2. Gathering ?’s
No the ? does not stand for a question, there are actually little points that appear on the ground that show up as a ? when you click on them. These gathering points are how you get all of those collection quests which can level you up very fast and give you some decent rewards. If you look at the broker you can also see that certain collection items can also sell for a ton of money. The best selling items are shiny and glowing shards, certain enchanted bones, and various colored leaves (i.e. enchanted purple maple leaf). The shard quests give very good bracelets if you complete a set of the same class (i.e. complete all the shiny shards) and can give a very good earring if you complete a set of the same type (i.e. all of the alteration shards). If you to get all 6 of the earrings from the 6 different types of shards then you can combine these to get a very nice mage necklace. It doesn’t do you much good as a scout but it will still give you a ton of exp and you can sell the necklace off on the broker. The different sets of leaves are also a very popular collection because they actually give you some huge bags as a reward. These bags are invaluable if you are going to be doing things like harvesting and farming. Finally the enchanted bone collection gives a very nice necklace for melee classes but it does take a while to complete since there are a ton of different bones.
My favorite way to gather ?s is while harvesting. You will find alot of ?s in areas that you can harvest as well. The best place I have found to harvest is in the first goblin area in LS. This area has a bunch of harvesting nodes, 3 different ?s nodes that respawn shortly after gathering from them, and is filled with alot of non-agro mobs or mobs that are easy to dodge. If you harvest here you can gather ?s at the same time which are very good money if you get glowing shards. Harvesting in Ferrott is also a good idea because the ?s in this zone give Feerrott fern leaves which sell for alot of money since they reward you with the biggest bag. Almost all of Feerrott will also be grey to you at level 50 so you won’t have to worry about dodging or running from mobs.

5. Money Making
So I bet you’re wondering how you are gonna get all the money to pay for your adept3s and rare crafted armor. This section of the guide will list the best ways for you to gain money so you can afford the best equipment this game has to offer.

5.1. Harvesting
One of the easiest ways to make money in this game is through harvesting. The lower tiers really won’t pay too much, but once you start getting in the T4 and T5 zones then you can start making some pretty decent money; and if you find a rare it’s like getting a payday. As I said, harvesting is split up into tiers, T1 is considered the newbie zones connected to Freeport and can be harvested at any level. From here you can harvest from T2 (CL and Ant with 25 harvesting), T3 (Nek and TS with 90 harvesting), T4 (EL and Zek with 140 harvesting), and finally T5 (LS, EF, RV, Feer with 190 harvesting). There are a few different types of harvesting skills and your current level needs to be at the levels listed above to be able to harvest the type of node in each zone. The different harvesting skills you can level up are mining for rocks, foresting for wood, gathering for plants and roots, trapping for dens, and fishing for fish obviously. The most profitable skills are mining by far, and then gathering and foresting can pull in some decent money as well. I suggest leveling up these three skills while you are waiting for groups in the various zones.
Even though you won’t be making much money at first, you still need to build up your skills to start making money at higher levels. Depending on your server you will be making anywhere from 3-5sp for regular harvested materials, and 1.4p-1.7p from ebon clusters, .7p-1p for rubies and rhodium, and then 20g for the rare wood and roots. You may also get luminous items while harvesting which are used for imbueing and sell for about 5g. Of course when you first start harvesting you will want to be saving all your rares because you are going to need 1 wood for a bow, 2 roots for 2 hex dolls, a bunch of rubies/rhodium for jewelery and adept3s, and then ebon for your armor and weapons. If you start harvesting as you level, you will lower the amount of rares you need to buy and eventually be making money from harvesting. One other thing, you can get harvesting quests from the tradeskill zones in each city. These will randomly ask you to harvest 15 of a certain type of material and in return will pay you very well. At T5 you can

game. Not only are the stats extremely good but it also has a 10% haste as well. This is huge for scouts as the haste makes us swing faster thus doing more damage.

Golden Efreeti Boots
Although these boots are more suited for mages, the power regen is extremely useful even for melee. This heritage starts from Charley Ashlash in Lavastorm who can be found in the first goblin area. This quest will take quite a while to finish and will also require you to go into the instanced Bastion of Flames in Sol Eye. You only need one person with access to get the whole group in, so hopefully someone has it or you will be doing another very long access quest. Once you finish Bastion of Flames though you will be rewarded with some very nice power regen boots.

Crown of King Tranix
This quest starts in Lavastorm as well in the little rock building right to the west of the bell on the docks. This is another long quest which will also require you to camp three different named mobs throughout Sol Eye. Your reward though is one of the only helms ingame with melee stats. It has +11sta and +11str as well as some nice health and magic resists. Although it is VLA you won’t be tanking much as a scout so the AC doesn’t really matter.

Besides these heritages, there are a few other heritage quests you can do, although they are not a necessity. At lower levels you can do the Dwarven Work Boots (Ardent Needle in Ant) and the Glowing Lightstone which starts from a dropped item from Lightbringer Wisp in CL by the druid ring. At higher levels you can also do the Shiny Brass Shield which also requires you to go into Deathfist Citadel, Guise of the Deceiver which you start and finish in Nek Castle, and Tobrins’s Mystical Eyepatch from Master Tyl’s on an island to the left of the EF docks. Besides these, most of the other heritage items are unusable by scouts or are meant for other classes. Make sure you get the must have heritages I listed above though, they will be extremely helpful until you start raiding and getting some fabled gear.

power for 690 health. Because brigands should almost never be hit and that 200 power is a couple more damage skills there’s no reason why you wouldn’t want it.

Legendary Journeyman Boots
This heritage starts from Cru Naseto right next to the Qeynos gates in Antonica. As I mentioned earlier you will be running a timed route throughout 7 zones, excluding EF and LS, and once you complete all the races you will receive the J-boots. You can’t wear the boots until level 42 and can’t complete the quest until you reach Ferrott, but as a scout with evac you can solo the whole thing whenever you want. Your reward is an extremely useful pair of boots with +10% runspeed. Even if you don’t wear these in battle they are good to boot on when you are running around.

Serrated Bone Dirk
This heritage starts from an attackable NPC just to the left of the EL docks by the water. You need to be 37 to start this if I remember correctly. Overall, this quest is not too difficult and can be completed in a couple hours if you have a group that knows what they are doing. Your reward is one of the best daggers ingame which you will still be using at level 50 until you find some fabled daggers.

Short Sword of Ykesha
This is another very useful dual wield weapon that you can use until you find some fabled dual wields. It is a very long and annoying heritage though as it takes you through the instanced Deathfist Citadel in Zek. The access quest for Deathfist Citadel itself is pretty tedious as well since it requires you to kill a couple named mobs which aren’t always up. You will receive this heritage from the greenhoods after you complete the DC access quest first. If you can manage to get access to the Citadel and finish this quest you will be rewarded with a very good dual wield slasher though.

Flowing Black Silk Sash
You can start this quest from Yoru the Old in Windstalker Village, Antonica at level 40. This quest isn’t too hard and rewards you with one of the best belts in the

EverQuest 2 Brigand Guide-chapter018

EverQuest 2 Brigand Guide

get this you will basically have to kill solo mobs or groups of lizards in the Ferrott. This quest is totally based on luck as well, some people get lucky and get the tattered robe starter in a few hours, while other people can’t even get it in a few weeks. If you do manage to get the starter though the quest is pretty easy (need 200+ mining and gathering skill), and will give you one of the best robes in the game. The other good quest to do for endgame equipment is the multi-step quest in PF which takes you throughout the zone killing different mobs. It’s really not that hard and you will end up getting an amazing level 49 necklace with very nice stats. You have a choice of a few different necklaces, the best one for scout has 1int, 9sta, 12str.
As I mentioned earlier, alot of good equipment can be received from heritage quests. There are 22 heritage quests in total but not all of these are good for a scout, some of which scout’s can’t even wear. Even if you can’t wear the heritage items you still do get alot of status for them and if you manage to hit the 5, 10, and 20 completed heritage quests you get new titles at each step. Just remember you need to talk to a mage by books in the NFP mage academy to get these titles, they don’t come automatically. Below I will list the must have heritage quests as well as optional ones that you can still put to use. The rest will be your decision whether you want to do them.

Must Haves:
Fishbone Earring
This quest start at TS docks and will take a little while if you start it in the 20s. This quest will require you to complete Nek Castle and kill Lord Everling as well as kill a couple other names in TS and RoV. Whether you do it right away or wait til you’re a bit higher, you will still be wearing this earring even at level 50 until you find a good fabled one. It is one of the only earrings with both sta and agi, and it also has water breathing which will come in handy.

Manastone
This quest starts in TS as well and starts from a dropped item from a rat named Stilletto who wanders in the giant are gnoll area where you will be leveling. This is another item that you will be using at level 50 because it actually converts your health to power (with 1 min recast) at about a 3:1 ratio. At level 50 you will be getting about 200

EverQuest 2 Brigand Guide-chapter019

EverQuest 2 Brigand Guide

party is the level 50 Nek Castle zone which you can enter at level 49. This zone has a full set of medium armor you can get with stats that are specifically catered to scouts. Each sister drops a set of armor that is catered to a specific class. Melanie drops the scout armor. Besides this, some good jewelery can also drop from the various named mobs throughout this zone. You’ll probably have to do this zone once a night (it has a 18 hr re-entry timer) for a few weeks if you want to get all the equipment it has to offer. Overall, you should have either fabled, ebon crafted, or Melanie’s armor at T5 as well as rare crafted imbued weapons, fabled weapons, and/or SBD and SsoY from heritage quests. Most of the jewelery you get will either be rare crafted, quested, or raid dropped.

4.3. Quests and Heritage
Quested equipment also offers some of the best equipment ingame, esp. the heritage quests which are suited for scouts. From level 1-20 most of your gear will be from various quests around town. Most of these newbie quests give you the option of a few different things so that you can choose the item best suited for your quest. The first major quested equipment that is good is the level 20 AQ’s. If you have a group and the time to get through all 6 of the AQ’s then this armor will last you until level 30 and is better than the regular crafted stuff at level 20. If you want to run over to Antonica and have the patience to complete the heritage for Dwarven Work Boots those are the best boots until the upper 30s as well.
There’s not too much as far as quested armor in Nek or TS, but once you get to RoV there is an extremely good bracelet you get from the kill 30 golems quest. I suggest just buying another one of these bracelets as well since there really isn’t anything else that is better at this level. The Augur quests in Nek, Zek, and EL also have some decent jewelery and take about 10-15 min to complete. When you start leveling in Runnyeye there are also two quests that ask you to kill 200 goblins and 100 eyes which give you a BP and legs respectively. There is also a very good belt and necklace that comes from quests in Runnyeye which you should get. The neck is extremely good for melee because it has +10str and +10sta, the belt has very good stats for the level as well.
Once you get into the 40s most of your equipment will either be rare crafted, dropped, or from heritages. There are still a couple of quests which gives you an endgame piece of equipment, but you won’t be relying on as many quests as at lower levels. The first one is the Robe of Invoker I was talking about in the leveling guide. To

4.2. Dropped
Generally, the most common thing you will find from mobs are dual wield weapons. At lower levels their is nothing in particular that drops armor which you should concentrate on getting. Most of your armor from level 1-25 will be either quested or crafted. Once you start getting into TS and Nek zones you can find some pretty decent weapons that drop from mobs. Giants can drop steel stilletos which are very good weapons and the dragoons in nek forest can drop dragoon daggers which are decent as well. There is a named giant that sometimes spawns in the pit/lake area where the giants are that can drop some good jewelery as well. Besides that you can get lucky and sometimes find jasper jewelery from the skeletons in TS. If you do manage to venture into Edgewater Drains for AQ4 you can also get some pretty good dual wield sai’s and also palladium torques which you need for the GBS heritage quest.
Once you get to Ruins of Varsoon you can get some more good dual wield feysteel weapons for T4. You may also occasionally get an oakwood bow but this is very rare and I’ve only seen it drop from the mobs in the very back of this zone. If you are camping the golem rooms you may also see the named golem which has a chance of dropping a cloth scarf which is a pretty decent neck item. The Bloodlines zones have also added alot of different types of armor into the game that are better suited for certain characters. If you have this adventure pack and the time you can get some really good medium armor with melee stats on them, such as sta and str on helms, etc.
Once you get to EL and start leveling in Runnyeye and RV there is also some good scout armor and weapons that drop here. You can find alot of enchanted armor in Runnyeye as well as alot more feysteel weapons. The named goblins in this zone also drop really good medium armor boots and a good dual wield sabre. In RV, the deputies that you see running around will also drop ebon breastplates which are very good if you haven’t bought ebon crafted armor yet. Don’t worry too much about your faction, I’ve killed a ton of deputies and never had them go KoS on me, plus all the lamias and nightbloods you kill will raise the faction back up in no time.
The endgame is where you will find the best stuff. Obviously fabled loot from all of the raid mobs are the best items in the game. Besides this though there are also a ton of different instanced zones that drop good items. I’ll get more into the fabled equipment that you can get in the raid portion at the end of this guide, but just remember that this is where the best stuff comes from. The best zone to get better equipped with a one man
