bridge to the right. Through this door they were guarding you will find Darathar just lounging out on the far island. When you pull Darathar you want to do it so that you can turn him around so his back is facing the ramp and the tank is standing in the water. Also make sure the tank has a slow weapon and you don’t haste him up, Darathar loves riposte and he will hit the tank for a ton of damage with riposte. This means you want to be hitting him as little as possible when you are facing him, and as a scout this should be never.
As for Darathar’s actual skills you will soon realize he has a nasty AoE fire attack which adds a 3 tick DoT that can do quite a bit of damage. Every group must have a elemental group cure and a group healer if you want to survive. Also you will soon realize that you will actually be fighting Darathar for 250% instead of the normal 100% bar. This is because he actually stuns you and respawns at 75%, 50%, and 25% before you can finally kill him. This will be one of your most challenging fights and is by far the hardest fight of this epic quest. Just don’t give up and don’t get discouraged if you get a few unlucky riposts or bad pulls. Just remember that once you get him past the 75%, 50%, and 25% marks you won’t have to do them again unless you give up and zone out. When you finally defeat him you will get your Bejeweled ring and some gold, and then you get to run down to Naggy one last time and finally get your Prismatic and the title.

one tank to hold all three. Once you’ve figured this instance out though it shouldn’t be too tough to beat.

Trenda’loz the Caller (Fallen Gate)
This drakota is found in the very deepest parts of FG where the instance for Vault of the Fallen is. Once you get inside this instances just follow the left wall until you reach a center area where Trenda’loz is located. This Drakota is actually very easy and doesn’t really do anything special that you need to watch out for. Like the rest of the raid mobs in this quest he can hit very hard and has some nasty barrages but besides that just be smart and keep the tank up. I believe he is a necro class as well so he will have a pet which should die very fast. Necros aren’t exactly the most powerful classes currently so this should make for an easy fight.

Niscanith (Sanctum of Fear)
This last drakota is located in the Sanctum of Fear in CT. Once you get up to Niscanith you will see that he is on a very high platform at the top of Sanctum of Fear. He does occasionally knock people off so you want to have the tank with his back to the stairs and the wall so he doesn’t die from a fall and can get back up quickly. The healers can stand out of range on the steps just incase the dps classes accidently turn him around and get barraged. Besides this though he’s nothing special either, and unlike the drakotas in Fire and Ice he doesn’t seem to have any special AoE’s or suprises.

Darathar (Oracle Tower)
Finally you’ve reached the final mob of Deception, the huge dragon known as Darathar. To reach the Isle of Refuge where he is located you must go to the Oracle Tower in Antonica and zone in through the globe at the top of the tower. Once you zone in you should immediatly remember your newbie days on the Isle of Refuge, only now you are a huge powerful level 50. You may be disappointed though when you see all the NPC’s lying dead on the ground and no low level goblins to get revenge on. Once you’re done reminiscing about your younger days on the Isle, it’s time to get to Darathar. When you head out of town take the door on the right to get to Darathar. You can actually run along the left wall to avoid most of the orcs until you get to a bridge. Here you will have to clear out some very easy orc groups and then two of Darathar’s guardians across the

EverQuest 2 Brigand Guide

Yes you get to fight King Drayek to finish up Fire and Ice, but he is a little bit different than the normal instance. First off he doesn’t have the two smaller encounters that you have to fight first. Second, make sure that you do not leave the inner circle of the room once the fight starts. If you leave this inner circle you will die instantly and be out for the rest of the fight. This also means you do not want to pull agro because he still has his knockback which can knock you out of the ring. The third differences is that he will become unattackable when he calls his adds at 50%. Once you finish his adds he will respawn with full life one more time. Once Drayek is dead you will get to see Darathar for a brief moment, but believe me you’ll get your chance to put the beat down on that huge dragon as well.

6.9. Deception
This is the third and final quest of the Speak As a Dragon / Fire and Ice epic. It is similar to Fire and Ice in that you will fight three different drakotas then the main boss, Darathar in this case. It is a little more challenging then Fire and Ice because the drakotas are level 57 and Darathar is pretty challenging your first time as well. If you’ve gotten this far and have some experience raiding, then this shouldn’t be any tougher then many of the other things you’ve done. All of these Drakotas and Darathar also have a high chance to drop a master chest as well, something that wasn’t apparent in the Fire and Ice quest. As your reward you will get the coveted Prismatic weapon as well as a Bejeweled Ring of Scales which is pretty decent depending on what you are wearing currently. Oh yeah and don’t forget you get to show off that nice new “of the Shard” title.

Vanudozalon the Elusive (Firemyst Gully)
This is a very interesting encounter because you will actually be fighting three of him at the same time. Two of these Vanudozalon’s are fake versions, hence his name. These fake versions are alot easier then the real version, they have alot less health and don’t hurt as much. The real version on the other hand doesn’t have any special AoE’s or anything like that, but he can hit pretty hard and make sure to watch out for his barrage. Once you start fighting it should be easy to tell which one is the real version by how fast he is dying. I usually find it best to kill the fake versions first and then just concentrate on the real one. I suggest using offtanks as well since it may be hard for

are they immune to anything, the only reason you need to kill them is to get the essences to spawn Lady Vox.

Mjolni Bringer of Storms (Cove of Decay)
For this drakota you can do it the easy way or the hard way. The hard way is just going in like normal, clearing a few adds, and fighting him like normal. When he gets to about 25% health he will call in a large group of adds that you will have to take care of. Now the easy way does exactly everything the same except you want to leave one fighter outside of the raid group. His job is to intercept this group of adds that comes running towards Mjolni and running them away from the raid party. Whether this person dies or manages to run the adds off, they will not come back to help Mjolni, leaving the rest of the raid group to dispose of him very easily. Whether you want to do it the cheap way or not, this is probably the easy of the three drakotas.

Dythra the Gloombringer (Trembling Lagoon)
The second drakota isn’t much harder, but make sure you have a group poison cure in every group. Dythra has an AoE that blurs your vision and drains power. The only way to cure this is with a poison cure from the priests. Dythra also calls adds to his aid but they currently seem bugged so they never reach you. Once you do the zone you’ll see what I mean. Besides the AoE though there’s nothing really special about this drakota, and if you’ve completed the other instances already this should seem like cake.

Ar’ticae Frost Maiden (Miragul’s Menagerie)
This is the hardest and longest instance of the three drakotas. You actually have to kill everything in this zone to advance, kind of like the real Miragul’s Menagerie zone. Not only is this zone long, but the drakota is the hardest of the three because of it’s AoE. Ar’ticae has an uncurable elemental AoE which means you need a group healer in every group. If your resists are high enough the DoT isn’t too much of a problem but you still need to have that group heal since it lasts for about 5 ticks. This fight is all about power management and having healers who know what they’re doing.

King Drayek (Icebound)

to resist it. It’s on a 45 sec. timer so you can either make a call to let people run out, or the better strategy is to go all out on him and take him down before he destroys your tanks armor. Because this zone is so challenging there is about a 90% metal chest drop rate, so you can usually expect some pretty nice fabled items as well as rare crafting scrolls and crafting materials.

6.7. Maiden’s Gulch: The Commune of K’Dal (Lavastorm)
Encounter: K’Dal
Immune: Slash
Specials: AoE and Silence
Scout Items: Various Belts, Bracelets, Necklaces.
This is another very challenging zone because of the harsh AoE and the fact that he likes to silence people. All the healers and mages should be standing out of range of the AoE, which will still let them nuke and heal. Another interesting part of this zone is you are only given one HO path that requires one of each archtype. Once you get the hang of it the HO is pretty easy to pull off, and you should be using this the entire fight. As a scout it is your job to start the HO so make sure you’re doing that as well. As far as the actual encounter is concerned, you must talk to the miners to start the encounter. If you choose the negative response you have to fight the miners and K’Dal at the same time and the reward is the same. So unless you want a challenge, I suggest just going for the positive response. Overall, save your stuns for emergencies, keep on the HOs, and make sure the healers are curing the silence.

6.8. Fire and Ice Epic Quest
This quest starts after the To Speak As a Dragon quest which consists of defeating an easy x2 mob in Maidens Gulch and then talking to Naggy and running around collecting runes. Tons of information can be found on the internet about the actual and there is a full walkthrough at Ogaming. I will be telling you about the raid mobs you will have to fight for this quest. None of these dragons drop any good loot nor

6.5. Icebound (Permafrost)
Encounter: King Drayek
Immune: Crushing, Cold
Specials: Summons guards at 75%, 50%, 25%
Scout Items: Ring of Removal
King Drayek is another pretty easy epic encounter. Before you fight him you have to fight two groups of golems that spawn and his two dogs, neither of which should be any trouble at all. As for the actual Drayek encounter he’s nothing special. There is a knockback you have to worry about but if the tank puts his back against the throne then it’s no problem. When the adds spawn just have everyone but the main group pull of Drayek and kill the adds, then go back to killing Drayek. In no time he should be down and if you’re lucky you’ll get the coveted Ring of Removal.

6.6. Deserted Mines (Zek)
Encounter: Trembler the Behemoth, 3x Symbiants
Immune: Slash (Behemoth), Pierce (Symbiants)
Specials: AoE to raid that damages armor, time limit for Symbiants
Scout Items: Runed Combine Bauble, Necklace of Mysterious Origins, Ancient Combine Stiletto, Arhcaic Combine Dagger
This is probably the hardest instanced zone because you not only have a 2 min. time limit on the first three symbiants, but the Behemoth himself has an AoE that actually damages your armor, creating a self-imposed time limit that you must meet before all your armor breaks. Once you enter the zone you have about 5 min until the first wave of Symbiants spawn. You absolutly need some AoE damage for this, Warlocks and Berserkers are awesome for this instance. Once the Symbiants spawn you have 2 min. to kill them, the summoner lady will give you a 30 sec. warning when she tells you to hurry up or she’s leaving. If you manage to get through all three waves successfully, then you can go fight the Behemoth. To get to him faster just run up the path past the giant crater in the ground until you see a little circular area, this is where he spawns. It usually takes him a few minutes to spawn as well. The thing to watch out for on the Behemoth is his AoE that will take off 16% of your armor everytime unless you happen

6.3. Trembling Lagoon: Meeting of the Minds (Feerrott)
Encounter: Overlord Oxulius, Pkwkz-
Immune: Cold, Pierce (Oxulius)
Specials: If you kill Pk first then the Overlord summons Borxx, while Pk is alive he summons groups of 4 adds.
Scout Items: Cryptic Metallic Coat, Band of Shimmering Spirit
This instance is one of the hardest instanced zones because you have to manage two named mobs plus a ton of adds. The general strategy for this zone is to go all out on the Overlord and use AoE’s to kill the adds. You want to kill the Overlord first so that Borxx and his 3 adds do not spawn which add increased difficulty to the zone. Once you kill Overlord then you can start killing leftover adds and then focus on Pk. If you are doing enough damage you can just focus on Pk until he is dead and not worry about the groups he spawns. Berserkers with rampage are awesome for this zone if you have any in your raid group.

6.4. Cove of Decay: Epic (Thundering Steppes)
Encounter: Rognog the Angler
Immune: Crushing
Specials: Has a huge knockback, respawns as a harder version at 50% health
Scout Items: Necklace of Doom
This is probably the easiest instanced epic zone because you really only need to concentrate on one mob who has no magic. If the tank positions himself against the side of the mountain then the knockback really isn’t that big of a deal either. Nothing really special about this zone, just kill the fish and the first Rognog who is extremely easy. When he respawns move him to the side of the mountain and just start doing damage. The reason this instance was taken out of game so long was because it was super easy and people were farming it. They really didn’t do much to make the zone any harder except the normal raid mob increases that effected all epic encounters. The rezone timer on this zone is 8 days compared to the 18 hr lockout of the other 4 original instances zones though.

EverQuest 2 Brigand Guide

preparation for the fight, make sure you have an add group that will be outside of this area catching the three patriarchs that are spawned. If the patriarchs manage to reach King Zalak then he will not only be healed, but the tank and those around Zalak will also be hit by an AoE. At the start of the fight you want to kill the astrologer first and then the acolyte. Depending on how good your raid is, you should be able to kill both of these adds before the first set of patriarchs are called. Once these adds are killed or the patriarchs are called, get the add group out of this area and grab the patriarchs before they reach Zalak. From this point on the add group will stay outside and grab the patriarchs and kill them everytime they are spawned. The patriarchs are pretty easy and one group is more than enough to kill them before more are called. The other 3 groups should just concentrate on taking down the other two adds then finishing off Zalak.

6.2. Firemyst Gully: Shattered Stillness (Antonica)
Encounter: Makuto and Shakuto, Arch Lich Udan
Immune: Makuto and Shakuto one immune to cold/pierce, one immune to poison/slash.
Arch Lich Udan immune to cold/pierce.
Specials: Instance consists of three different encounters. Udan summons elementals that AoE stun unless they are mezzed. Need silence or high resists to survive nukes.
Scout Items: Earring of Disintegration, Ancient Combine Hands from Makuto/Shakuto.
This instance is a little bit harder than the Commonlands zone. For this zone you either need a warlock in the main group to boost resists so that the MT can survive the nukes, lots of stuns, or the easiest way is silence from a coercer. You defiantly need a coercer/illusionist to mez the adds on Arch Lich Udan though or the constant stuns can really mess you up. If you don’t have any mez then you need to kill these adds that he summons asap. For Makuto and Shakuto it’s best to have 2 tanks, one on each mob. Again a coercer is a huge asset here because he can silence one of them since one is a warlock and one is a wizard. The main challenge to this zone is the adds and the fact that you are fighting spell casters which can 1 shot the tank if you are not prepared. If you have silence or high resists than this zone should be no problem.

6. Raid Instances
This last section of the guide will give you an overview and general strategies for the endgame raid instances and the excellent loot you can get from them. This is by no means a end-all strategy that will make you win everytime, nor is it the only way to complete these zones. They are just strategies that I have used and that have been successful countless times over.
As a scout your primary job is to do damage and debuff the mob. By level 50 you should have enough practice to know what you are doing and have a general strategy to do the maximum amount of dps in the shortest amount of time. Each section of this raid overview will also list the resistances of each raid mob. As a scout you need to have two good slashing and piercing weapons for the various mobs you will face. Also make sure you have both piercing and slashing arrows which you can buy from NPC vendors, and even crushing arrows as well, but you need to find a crafter for these. On some of the harder contestable raid mobs it’s also a good idea to save your stuns for when the tank is getting low on health. This way the healers have extra time to get the tank back up because every second counts in situations like these. In the case that you do pull agro on the mob this is also a good time to use your stuns and interrupts. Your primary focus is keep yourself and the other melee classes alive when you do pull agro and the mob targets you. To do this you want to turn the mob 180o so that the back is facing the majority of players as to avoid riposts. At the same time you also want to turn your back to the mob to avoid riposts as well, which could very well kill you in one hit. If your main tank (MT) is good he should have the agro back on him within a few seconds and you can go back to doing dps after he has adequate hate.

6.1. Zarvonn’s Tower: Echoes of Time (Commonlands)
Encounter: King Zalak the Ancient
Immune: Cold, Slash
Specials: Summons 3 patriarchs every minute that heal King Zalak and do AoE damage.
Scout Items: Earring of Disintegration (Bracelet Slot), Uktrl’s Shield of Stealth
This instanced raid zone is a good learning zone for some of the newer guilds. You need to be organized and have good communication to complete this zone, which is a building block for many of the other harder raid zones and contestable raid mobs. In

make different types of food and also go up to the alchemy table to make ink for your app4s for level 1-9 if you need them. Scout app4s and adepts can be made at the runecraft table right next to the alchemy table on the top floor. Just like adventuring, you will hit level 9+ in no time and you will need to go choose your crafting class in EFP at the tradeskill coalition. If you are going for jeweler then choose the scholar class.
Once you are a scholar go back and join a 2nd tradeskill guild that caters to the scholar class. In here you will find all the recipe books from level 10 C 49 (there is no level 50 book). As a scholar you can make jewlery, essences/spells/runes, and poisons/potions. There are also apothecary, geomancy, timbercraft, and weaving books that were added a couple months ago. With these books you can make every subcomponent ingame and you will never need to rely on another crafter except for finished products. From level 10 C 19 it’s easiest to make spells since there are such a great variety. Start off by making inks from level 10 C 15 and nothing else. Then make about a stack of quills and paper for spells, and a stack of spikes and ornaments for runes. Make one of every spell and rune from level 13 C 15 and do the same thing with fighter essences. This should get you close to level 17. Repeat the process with every new skill you receive and if you need to make more skills to level up use fighter essences since these are the easiest to get subcomponents for. Once you hit level 19+ it’s time to go back to EFP one last time and choose the jeweler subclass.
The general strategy for level 20 C 50 is the same. Start off by making only subcomponents from level 20 C 27 and then make finished products from 27 C 29. At level 29 and 39 you can start making subcomponents for the next tier which is an advantage over many of the other tradeskill classes which have to wait until level 30 and 40. You can also start making torques at level 26 and 36 which are a level 29 and 39 recipe respectively. If you are power leveling straight to T5 then I suggest just making one of each rune and then going all torques until you hit 29/39 since these will give you the most exp. You can then sell the finished torques to the vendor for no loss. Your main source of income will be from rare jewelery and adept3s. This ultimately depends on how you get your name out and what the online community thinks of you. If you are generally a well known and liked person with fair prices then you will have people asking you to make them jewlery and items all the time. Try posting on your server boards and letting people know your craft as well. Basically just do anything you can to get your name out, have a fair price, and don’t do things to make people hate you. Generally the same concepts as real life business .
